Material & Resources, Low-emitting materials, Building product disclosure and optimization, as well as Environmental product declarations and sourcing raw materials – all products will contain more than 80% recycled materials as well as all of our suppliers participate in the Sustainable Forest Initiative which means they supply material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Unless otherwise specified all products complaint to local and federal standards. Builders was first recognized in 2008 as part of a USGBC pilot program that sought to specifically certify retail designs. We contribute to these processes by recycling more than 75% of our solid and liquid waste and participating in energy conservation initiatives in heating, lighting and power consumption. Additionally, Builders Furniture is active with Shop! (a trade association focused on promoting and adopting environmentally healthy processes and products with manufacturers). We participate in educational information and committees with design professionals, contractors, and owners and are currently a member of the A.R.E. Green100 Sustainability Task Force and Green Materials Committee (Renamed to Shop! Sustainability Task Force and Green Materials Committee).
